The Zushi Media Arts Festival been successfully operating for three consecutive years. This international projection mapping competition attracts media artists from around the globe to compete. The festival’s mission is to provide a platform for these technologically advanced artists to share their ideas with people on a global scale.
Hfour was invited to participate in an international projection mapping contest in Zushi, Japan. According to the judges’ ranking we tied for 2nd place. Including the audiences’ ranking Hfour placed 5th overall. Each contestant was assigned to create a one minute piece projected onto an unused elementary school south of Tokyo. Hfour worked on the projection mapping project remotely from Vancouver, and supplied the festival with video mapping content for the competition.
Hfour collaborated with the musicians from Gigante to create an audio component to the visual show.
Title: Moving Forward
We have the opportunity to move forward to achieve great things by breaking down the walls that divide us. There is infinite possibilities within each of us. By looking deeply into each other’s souls, we can see the connections in our humanity and in our spaces.

Hfour would like to thank Michiyuki Ishita for inviting us to create an artwork at the Zushi Media Arts Festival. The artform of projection and location based media is contemporary and exciting, and the festival is full of opportunity and has a bright future. I look forward to an ongoing collaborative process between artists around the world.
